~Dinner~
2018
The project ‘dinner for two’ is questioning the idea of the collectivity and solidarity, how doing stuff
together actually can complicate rather than favor the individuals act of doing.
In this act of eating you have to be in complete sync, to be aware of your partners moves and
needs. If you’re interested in eating faster or slower you should consult this with your partner.
In the world we live in people are becoming more and more individualistic. The idea of the
collective and solidarity can seem warm and nice, almost in a nostalgic way.
But how collective can you really be with the people in you’re surrounding? And how are you
handling this at the moment? How is the wish for collective really working with the wish for
togetherness, for the perfect two? And how is the “perfect two” really working for once wish of
individualism?
We’re invited the public to join us for a meal, to try this out. A meal where we’re sharing without
sharing. A meal where your “other half” is your main dinner companion, where you’re having your
own drink, your own food, you own side of the fork so you don’t risk losing yourself with others
bacteria. But in a way, are still as close as you can be, without becoming one.
To highlight the individualism in the collective we’re mainly working with medias such as: ceramics,
textile and cooking. Which all used to be associated with fellowship, workshops and community.
They also have this warm and nostalgic feeling to them, we’re underlining this in giving them a
style which is a bit childish and colorful but also full of life.
